Pain Relief
What should I do about my severe low back pain?
I have had severe low back pain for a week now. When I wake up in the morning I struggle to get up out of bed. It hurts when I walk and even when I sit down. If I drop something on the floor I cannot pick it up. I have tried Motrin, aspirin, Alleve, and Tylenol, but nothing works. I also have cramps that resemble menstrual cramps. The back pain is literally immobilizing me. Any suggestions?
It’s important to determine the cause of your back pain.
This can really only be determined by taking a thorough history and doing a good physical exam.
You have been given advice to take more pain pills, muscle relaxers, etc.
That’s great unless you have a herniated disc……
point is, as this has been ongoing for 1 week, and has failed pretty agressive Over-the-counter meds, then I think it might be time to get it checked out especially if you are having any pains radiating down your legs

At my age I deal with low back pain with regularity, but nothing like what you describe. I suggest you see your physician.

Please see a doctor immediately! It could be slip disc or other ailments. If doc can’t help, book an appt with a reputable chiropractor…trust me it really helps.
Don’t live in pain anymore.

Check with your doctor to make sure it is not a slipped disk or any other disease. If he confirms it is just sore torn muscles, start a stretching routine and do it twice a day. Do them very slowly, holding each stretch for 20 seconds or more, and don’t bounce when stretching (this can really damage your muscles, like when someone does a stretch down to their feet and they bounce). Also correct sitting and sleeping posture can help too. Try sleeping on your side with a pillow in between your knees to stop any abrupt movement during sleep.

Trying these things should help you out a little:
Sleep on your side with a firm pillow between your knees, it will keep you hips a lined taking strain off your back.
Use a heating pad on low while you sleep.
IcyHot works well to relieve pain or BioFreeze is excellent (we use that in competitive swimming, it works.)
If you are female make sure you’re wearing your bra correctly and have the right size. JC Pennys does free fittings. The majority of women wear the wrong size putting strain on their backs.
Go see a doctor, you could have a pinched nerve ending, which while it isn’t all that dangerous the pain is excruciating.
Have your doctor recommend a chiropractor. This trained professional will have you feeling decades younger in no time.
